Today, potential customers can simply click and open an #embedded map or image, which will automatically give them a route to your #store. Click To Tweet

Embedding maps are simple and very straightforward. We have seen using GoDaddy Website Builder is the easiest, especially if you’re a small business, with minimum resources to build an online platform for your business. Read more about GoDaddy Website Builder Reviews to find out more.

What is an embedded map?

Using the simplest terminology, an embedded map will either feature a map view image, directions for selected routes, or an interactive Google Map. Additionally, Google Maps now feature street view options, community feeds, direct messaging, and additional insights about your and businesses in the surrounding area.

Once the embedded map is opened, customers will be automatically directed to the Google Maps App or any other navigation app on their mobile device. A detailed route will become available to the desired location.

Embedding maps

Google Maps is one of the most sophisticated and well-detailed mapping apps available today.

It’s automatically connected to Google, meaning that you’ll be able to find just about every store or place that you’re looking for, and Google makes it easier to find better stores first, so ensure you provide the best and most accurate information.

This goes without mentioning, but Google Maps is the best option and primarily the only option you should use. The feature to embed a map onto your website is offered by Google Maps as a “Share or Embed Map.” This feature allows users and website developers have access to the map’s HTML code, which can simply be copied and inserted into the website.

How to easily embed a Google Map onto your website

This is an extremely simple exercise and requires minimum knowledge of websites and Google Map features.

Step One

On your web browser, search for Maps.Google and search for the directions, street view image, or map view you would like to embed.

Step Two

Click the “Menu” tab.

Step Three

Scroll down until you see the “Share or embed map” feature.

Step Four

A box will pop-up, giving you the options to:

  • “Send a link,”
  • “Embed a Map”

Depending on your needs, you will be able to send the highlighted link to social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook. For this exercise, you will click the map’s HTML code or the “Copy Code” tab. Additionally, you will be given an option to choose the size of the map, which is available on the left side of the HTML code.

Step Five

After clicking the “Cody Code” tab, you can paste the HTML code into a note or additional document or directly add it to your website’s HTML section. This section will differ from person-to-person, as every person doesn’t necessarily use the same website-building platform.

NOTE: Ensure you know how to navigate around your website building platform for you to easily paste the map’s HTML code on the desired location. Google does have a small term of service policies that states that the embedded map you’re using will not feature live traffic information or updates, and once you embed the HTML code, you automatically agree to these terms of services.

Making use of Map Marketing

Google has realized that local businesses in certain neighborhoods are more likely to be searched by those living in the area. Thus, Google has adjusted certain features to make these local businesses more accessible for those who frequent them.

Google Maps

One of the most important aspects to remember when placing your business on Google Maps is to ensure all information given is accurate and correct. This helps potential clients to easily locate you on Google web browser and on the Maps App.

Information to complete when adding your business to Google and Google Maps:

  • Accurate and precise street location
  • Operating hours of the week, weekend, and public holidays
  • Contact number
  • Website or blog site if applicable

Many smaller and local businesses provide incomplete information, making it harder for customers to locate or know about them.

More so, having accurate information, with uploaded photos from customers and reviews posted on Google, helps your businesses be ranked higher up on the search ranking when people type in keywords related to your business.
